Cheetah Teacher workbook
Our volunteer Shannon Monroe has an interest in education activities. She left Kenya in June for her next adventure as a Peace Corp volunteer in Benin, so she had requested experience in that part if the ACK work.
In the last several years many volunteers both international and local have assisted in putting together the core of a teacher workbook. Last year Sandy Ball and Amanda Bengston edited our workbook and condensed it into something that we think will be perfect for the standard 4-7 age groups.
Shannon gave the book another edit and we contacted the Wildlife Clubs of Kenya for their input. We printed a few copies and approached some schools in the Salama area which were keen to assist us in piloting the books. On 15 May we held a brainstorming session at the ACK Salama camp with Eric and Rupi from WCK, three teachers, Shannon, Cosmas and I. We now have our final draft ready and will seek funding to finish the Teacher resource book and Student activity book later in the year.
The next step will be in funding the printing for distribution to a small set of pilot teachers in Salama, Nairobi and Samburu. The final step in the project will be in a greater distribution and usage testing.
